WHAT TO EXPECT

Riverside Heritage Homestay is located at Perumpadappu, in Palluruthy area in Cochin. This homestay is a 75-year-old, well-maintained bungalow built of bricks, wooden ceilings and roofing, and the flooring is done with old clay tiles. Covering an area of 1.25 acres, it is full of trees. The breeze from the Vembanad Lake backwaters behind the homestay is quite refreshing. This Kochi homestay is very close to Kumbalanghi, Kerala’s first model tourism village. You can visit Kumbalanghi, Fort Cochin and Vypeen from here.

This Kochi homestay has Chinese fishing nets, which the guests can operate themselves. Guests can catch the fish they want cooked  for dinner! There is also a shrimp farm and beautiful paddy fields nearby. You can take a walk in the countryside or ride on a bicycle through the village. Or the hosts can arrange for a mechanized country boat to visit the backwaters and near by islands.

Tariff ranges from Rs 1300-2000 per night per couple. This includes complimentary Kerala style breakfast.

  • Rooms Heritage Bunglow

    There are 2 rooms in the 75-year-old, well-maintained bungalow built of bricks, wooden ceilings and roofing, and the flooring is done with old clay tiles. They have newly built Traditional Kerala Style River facing cottages. These cottages have been constructed just behind the Heritage Home and can also be called as a miniature of the original building with modern amenities. They have private entrance. All the bed rooms have modern style bathroom attached and are mosquito proof. Hot & cold water is available 24 Hrs. There is free Wi-Fi internet usage.

    Traditional Kerala cuisine is available for both vegetarians and non vegetarians.

    Basil Mylanthra is a retired senior marketing executive of an MNC and Annie Basil is a housewife and an expert in Kerala-style cooking. They strive to create a cordial and friendly atmosphere for guests.

    Located 8kms from the homestay, is the famous Fort Cochin where guests can to check out the Chinese Fishing Nets. The nearby St.Francis Church is also worth visiting. A memorable experience would be to catch a Kathakali or Kalari performance at Fort Cochin.

    Houseboats tours from Alleppey backwaters can be arranged on advance requests from the guests. Day cruise as well as day and night stay is possible.
